Charging, battery and protection

How to charge and look after the battery.

All Perform props charge the same way: with a USB-C cable. Here you will find what happens on the charger and after unplugging, how to look after the battery and what to do when the device does not respond.

USB-C and charging time

Plug the USB-C cable from the box into the charging port and the other end into a USB charger.

  • With a 2 A charger a full charge takes about 2 hours, with a weaker charger up to 4 hours.
  • On the charger the device charges, is switched on and can light up. You can also connect to it from the app.
  • After charging, put the USB cover back on the port. A spare cover is in the box.

  2. Unplugging USBThe charging chip restarts and the circuit switches off.

The device going dark when you unplug the cable is expected — it is not a fault. Just switch it on with the button.

How the device shows charging progress and a full charge will be added.

Perform props have a built-in lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery. How long they light up depends on brightness and mode: roughly 1 to 24 hours per charge. The battery capacity is listed on the product page in the e-shop.

Battery care

General advice for Li-ion batteries:

  • Do not leave the battery fully empty for long. If you will not use the prop for a while, store it partly charged and top it up from time to time.
  • Keep it out of direct sunlight, hot cars and away from heaters.
  • Do not charge it wet or hot straight after a performance; let it dry and cool down first.
  • Charge on a dry, non-flammable surface.
  • If the device is damaged (cracked, deformed, unusually hot or you notice a smell), stop charging and using it and email us.
  • Do not take the capsule or the battery unit apart.
  • Use an undamaged USB-C cable and an ordinary USB charger.

A description of the built-in protection (for example a low-battery warning or behaviour when overheating) will be added once it is verified on the device.
